Abstract :
Single carrier (SC) block transmission with frequency domain equalization (FDE) in multi-path fading channels is considered. It is shown that uncoded SC-FDE is resistant to fading even though the multi-path diversity cannot be harnessed. We propose simple schemes based on concatenations of trellis coded modulation (TCM) and interleaving for single and multiple transmit antennas to improve the coding gain, which also exploit spatial diversity in the multi antenna case
