Abstract :
A new method is proposed, whereby specific gravity and magnetic susceptibility of small particles may be measured by levitation in paramagnetic solutions in a nonhomogeneous magnetic field. The basis for calculation is the ratio of the applied currents required for levitating to the same level the particle to be measured and a standard particle. The results should be independent of the geometry of the magnetic field.
