Abstract :
A new approach is proposed for scale-up of the magneto-gravimetric separation (MGS) method hitherto limited to laboratory uses. The difficulties inherent in the present method, which makes use of paramagnetic solutions, are described in relation to the insufficient gradient. The new method, called HG-MGS, incorporates the basic principles of high-gradient and high-intensity magnetic separation, with those of the MGS method. Some properties of the HG-MGS system with an ordered set of rods are described.
