Abstract :
We measured velocities of an isolated straight domain wall at drive fields up to 100 Oe in the materials (YLa)3(FeGa)5O12and (YBi)3(FeGa)5O12. These measurements were performed at in-plane fields up to 200 Oe. When the drive field is increased up to 100 Oe we find that at non-zero in-plane fields the velocity rises from the constant saturation velocity at the lower drives to a higher value. The increase can be as much as a factor of five and velocities up to 300 m-s-1are obtained. We investigated the wall motion by a well-known photometric method and by high-speed streak and framing mode photography. No significant disagreement was found between the results obtained by the two methods.
