Abstract :
Wear tests were conducted on a series of polycrystalline nickel-zinc ferrites, (Ni0.47Zn0.53)1-δFe2+δO4, where δ varied between -0.234 and 0.128. The extent of wear was found to be unaffected by the chemical composition of the ferrite material. A calculation showed that the mechanism of wear was burnishing, which should be relatively insensitive to small variations from stoichiometry.
