Reliability consideration for distributed chain structure with unreliable nodes

A distributed chain structure is considered when both nodes and branches are prone to failure. Using an existing result, it is shown that a distributed system using twice the number of nodes yields better reliability than a series-parellel system over an upper range of branch reliability. Both systems have the same number of branches.
