Abstract :
Analytical models are derived to obtain the deflection characteristics of slotted beam springs Used for insulation displacement contacts. A wide range of useful spring designs is covered by the three models described. It is found that bending and shear of the cantilever beam, as well as the rotation and displacement at the build-in end, each contribute about equally to the total deflection. The models are tested with results obtained with the finite element method (FEM). Excellent agreement was found for the three versions ana- lyzed.
