Abstract
The development of a new small-sized removable magnetic media product is followed from product inception thru design specification, mathematical modeling performance testing, and field testing. A mathematical model of the mini-cassette was developed to optimize the design for low-power consumption and long life. Portions of this model are discussed. The specific implementation of the design goals and features, including reliability (life), are discussed and comparisons are made to standard-sized cassettes from various manufacturers.
