Abstract :
A new tape-winding principle is described, by which winding stress on the web is minimized. Prior art is reviewed, including isoelastic drives and the so-called Newell Principle; advantages of the new drive are given. A typical product is described: an ANSI-compatible 1/4-inch cartridge interchangeable with the 3M DC300A.
