  • Abstract
    A review of applications of lasers to measurement and control of optical fiber fabrication processes is given. The unique laser properties of high intensity and good coherence permit accurate measurement and control functions to be performed. Both preform and fiber drawing processes are discussed with the major emphasis being in the drawing operation where the applications are more mature.
