Abstract :
This paper extends the solution of the orientation of a single particle to the case of noninteracting particle assemblages. Curves of squareness versus orientation field duration and curves of squareness versus orientation ratio are obtained. The application of the theory to the orientation of real particle systems is discussed with relation to experimental data from recording tape and disc samples. The results and limitations with respect to those physically obtained in practical situations are discussed.
