Abstract
In today´s highly competitive business world it is often insufficient to have the best technology or the best management practices in order to succeed: in most areas only the company with the best of everything will make it to the top. In order to achieve this, it pays to be open to suggestion from companies in other parts of the world where culture dictates a slightly different approach. The Engineers to Japan Scheme was set up to facilitate this type of exchange of styles and, since its inauguration, it has been used successfully by a variety of different UK companies. The author discusses how the scheme operates, its benefits and the insights into Japanese management approach
