Abstract :
Sufficient conditions for ensuring that a continuous stable, proper, minimum-phase plant remains minimum phase when sampled have been derived. As a corollary, the critical sampling frequency (the fastest sampling frequency ensuring minimum-phase behaviour) is shown to satisfy a simple equation. An engineering method to obtain the critical sampling by use of a relay is proposed. This method requires no prior knowledge of the plant
