Abstract :
Necessary bandwidth for high-index FM with Gaussian modulation is studied. On the basis of the quasi-static argument, a simple formula is devised for calculating the transmission bandwidth. It is shown that the proposed formula is more meaningful than Carson´s rule, since it relates bandwidth to the transmission quality and the peak factor of the modulating signal.
