Abstract
Measurements of total power losses at frequencies up to 1kHz have renewedly been made on three sorts of metallic soft magnetic materials. And it has been reaffirmed that the loss per cycle vs frequency curve can be approximated well by one empirical formula previously obtained on these materials below a threshold frequency ft , and that the non-linear term, ka lnf, of this empirical formula may be attributed to the thermal fluctuation after effect. At frequencies higher than ft , the measured total power losses have been separated into static losses and dynamic losses in accordance with results at lower frequencies. The dynamic losses have shown a characteristic frequency dependence for individual materials. In each case the loss mechanisms have been discussed.
