Abstract
This paper compares the performance of the iSCSI protocol to the performance of the Fibre Channel protocol for Storage Area Networks. Experiments envolving a real storage network and synthetic data were pursued. Results indicate that these protocols have similar performance. Moreover, iSCSI presents a series of advantages such as interoperability with other devices connected to the Internet.
