Abstract :
Transmission loss of VAD single mode fibres has been reduced to 0.35 dB/km at 1.3 ¿m and 0.2 dB/km at 1.55 ¿m by the thick cladding deposition and dehydration technique. The residual OH absorption loss is only 0.1 dB/km at 1.39 ¿m.
