Abstract
Overproduction is perceived as a threat. Our resources are taxed in order to provide means to control surplus produced by efficient technology. The irrational techniques employed to control the perceived threat of technology pose an actual danger, placing overproduction alongside overpopulation as a matter for real concern. The technology bomb is as much to be feared as the nuclear bomb. Rational accommodation to technology is possible but not inevitable. The greatest obstacle is poverty of thought.
