Abstract :
A broadband Pr3+-doped silica-based fibre superfluorescence light source at 1049 nm is demonstrated. For approximately 4 m length of Pr3+-doped fibre, the authors obtain an output power of 60 mW and a linewidth of approximately 20 nm at a pump power of 190 mW. The dependence of the peak emission wavelength on the wavelength of the pump is investigated. The intensity weighted average wavelength is stable with only a small fluctuation of +or-0.2 nm for different pump powers.
