  • Abstract
Supercomputers play important roles in various areas of science. But perhaps the greatest value of them lies in their ability to help scientists gain insight or understanding. They do this by enabling scientists to treat complexity in models that is not otherwise tractable, by enabling scientists to study phenomena that are difficult to study experimentally and by helping to test theory. This paper discusses associated examples.
