Abstract :
The paper deals with numerical investigation of stress and strain distributions in superconducting dipole magnets. A finite element computer program is developed to calculate stresses and displacements due to thermal stress, electromagnetic forces and prestressing of structural elements. Real mechanical and thermal properties of superconducting dipole elements are taken into account. Numerical results on stress and strain patterns in dipole magnets are presented.
