Abstract :
The timing and energy jitter of an actively modelocked dispersion-managed fibre ring laser is studied theoretically and numerically. It is shown that the jitter is significantly dependent on the location of the filter and modulator in the cavity. It is also shown that the most stable operation will be obtained when the locations of the filter and modulator in the cavity are separately optimised.
