  • Abstract
This paper describes the undergraduate electrical engineering laboratories at Arizona State University, For the past few years, the laboratory exercises associated with 11 electrical engineering courses have been conducted in a single large room and, mostly, on an unscheduled basis. This open laboratory is available 74 h each week and contains the equipment necessary for most of the undergraduate electrical engineering courses. The open laboratory constitutes a deviation from the conventional scheme where the experiments associated with specific courses are strictly scheduled and conducted in different rooms. This paper describes the operation of the open laboratory and some of its unique characteristics and advantages
