Abstract :
The author shares his first thoughts as the incoming editor of the IEEE Engineering Management Review. EMR continues to meet the needs of a growing audience of readers interested in the most recent literature related to the management of technical enterprises and the leadership of those people who bring their skills in innovation and design to bear on the challenges that confront our age. He believes that EMR makes a significant and unique contribution that serves the membership of the IEEE as well as a global market. He proposes to sample a core collection of the best journals to provide articles that span topics from a list closely aligned with engineering management. His goal is to select articles with a focus on technical leadership, systems, project management, organizational dynamics, teamwork, product development, information systems, and education. These vital topics seem to be the issues that practitioners encounter most often and he plans to supply articles in some of these key areas in each issue.
