Abstract :
Permanent magnet alloys having reduced or nil cobalt content and which are mechanically workable are studied for temperature effects. Two Fe-Cr-Co alloys with minor additions and Cu-Ni-Fe were measured in the form of cylindrical magnets having various length/ diameter ratios. Temperature cycling in the range -50 +175°C revealed no material, or permanent, changes affecting the magnetic properties. Reversible and irreversible effects in Fe-Cr-Co show low values comparable to Alnico 5. Reversible coefficient in Cu-Ni-Fe varies 0.055 to 0.09 %/°C depending on the temperature range.
