Abstract
A hifi read-out head is made, using the magneto-resistive effect. The Barkhausen noise and the distortion in the element are drastically reduced through magnetic feedback. Thermal noise is avoided by positioning the element in the rear gap of the head. Good wear resistance and resolution are ensured by using ferrite cores. The effect of feedback, the practical implementation and the performance of the head are discussed.
