Abstract :
The focus of this paper is the improvement of the average sum rate of an orthogonal frequency-division multiple-access (OFDMA) system in uplink by exploiting multiple users´ tap correlation information. We propose two statistical opportunistic scheduling schemes that schedule users based on the average subcarrier gains. We characterize the optimality of these schemes and compare their simulation results with those of other scheduling schemes with perfect or no channel state information. The performance of statistical opportunistic scheduling as a function of the number of simultaneously scheduled users is further investigated.
