Abstract :
The letter deals with the design of 2-D digital filters to be implemented in a logarithmic number system. The accuracy of the coefficient representation is considered, and a limit on the maximum useful word length is derived. An optimisation procedure is proposed, together with a few examples of 2-D filter design.
