Abstract :
The evolution of mode power distribution in fibres with fluctuations of physical parameters is investigated. The analysis is applied to the interpretation of backscattering trace. Rigorous expressions of backscattering power in the presence of fluctuations of fibre core radius and maximum NA are provided in many common cases.
