Abstract :
The heating and cooling of a pulsed magnet has been measured by means of embedded thermocouples. The results are in reasonable agreement with the calculated temperature distribution taking into account magneto-resistance and eddy current heating. The extremely fast cooling of the innermost layer that is in direct contact with liquid nitrogen has been measured with and without a simulated cryostat inside the bore
