Abstract :
This paper, which is based on an address given to the IEE South East Wales Area, examines some of the issues which are currently affecting the direction of engineering education in the United Kingdom. After considering the issues, a model is proposed to explain the situation. From this it is proposed that the only lasting solution is a partnership between industry, the profession and academe aimed at establishing a modern sponsorship
