  • Abstract
    In contrast with the conventional technique of deriving the Fresnel diffraction formula using Green´s functions and the integral theorem of Helmholtz and Kirchhoff, we present a simple direct derivation of Fresnel diffraction by starting out from the scalar wave equation.
