Abstract :
The radar cross section for scattering of electromagnetic waves by a plasma having an electron concentration proportional to r^{-2} is calculated. The exact solution is compared with the scalar approximation. It is found that the exact solution can be orders of magnitude smaller than any of the usual approximations.
