Abstract :
A new regeneratively mode-locked opto-electric oscillator, using a nonlinear optical loop mirror (NOLM), is presented. Part of the NOLM output is led to a clock extraction circuit, and the extracted signal is fedback to a gainswitched laser diode which is used as a control pulse. When a CW input beam is coupled into the NOLM, the electro-optic feedback circuit initiates the pulse oscillation. The authors generated a 9 ps optical pulse train at 10 GHz
