Abstract :
Some results are shown in this paper about stripe domain control in magnetic garnet films which have been studied as a laser beam deflector. A wide control range of the stripe domain period is achieved using (BiNdYb)3Fe5O12garnet film. In this film, the magnetization inclines slightly from the film plane, and when the stripe domain is employed as a grating, the deflection angle of its first order diffraction beam changes about 20 degrees with an in-plane field of 400 Oe. On the other hand, in a YIG-coated (YSmLuCa)3(FeGe)5O12garnet film, regular parallel stripe domains nucleate in any orientation homogeneously.
