Abstract :
Performance degradation due to homowavelength crosstalk is evaluated for end-to-end transmissions in multiwavelength optical networks using dynamic wavelength routing. Effects of homowavelength crosstalk on the performance are identified. One effect is crosstalk-spontaneous beat noise, another is possible signal-crosstalk beat interference. With the assumption of crosstalk-power addition and then field addition to the signal, we give a lower bound and an upper bound on the performance degradation due to the homowavelength crosstalk.<>
