Abstract :
Low-loss (¿=0.35 dB/km at ¿=1580 nm) and high-numerical-aperture (NA=0.23) graded-index optical fibres have been obtained by an improved MCVD method. These fibres have a silica cladding and a germania-doped silica core realised by very-high-temperature deposition conditions.
