Abstract
A new winding technique is proposed for the production of magnets from A15 filamentary wire. It is characterized by the application of ceramics as filling material during the winding process. Thus disturbing carbon bridges between neighboured turns or adjacent layers can easily be avoided. Furthermore after the turns are fixed they keep their positions during the reaction heat treatment and with the magnet in operation. First results are reported from a small laboratory coil which in the meantime did run for appr. 300 working hrs. without any disturbing event.
