Abstract
Harmonic analysis is used in the calculation of the forces arising when an oblate spheroid is placed in a nonuniform magnetic field produced by a superconducting winding. The resulting equations are solved for the second-order case. Theoretical results are compared with experimental values, and an indication is given of the application of the method in estimating forces acting on the coil of a superconducting motor.
