Abstract
We report transmission of 60 ps InGaAsP injection laser pulses (¿¿¿7 nm) through a 27 km-long single-mode fibre at the wavelength of minimum chromatic dispersion (1.314 ¿m). Practically no pulse broadening was observed. We conclude that the pulse broadening due to chromatic dispersion and polarisation-mode-dispersion (if any) combined is less than 30 ps for the 27 km-long single-mode fibre as determined from experimental uncertainty.
