Abstract :
An analysis of the iron-cored homopolar linear synchronous motor (LSM) is presented using tooth-by-tooth magnetic circuit theory and field dependent relative permeabilities. Sophisticated iterative procedures are used to obtain numerical solutions to the resulting set of simultaneous nonlinear equations. The analysis is validated by comparison between calculated and reported experimental tests results.
