Abstract :
A multiprocessor system is described, which can be used to implement a large class of signal processing systems in real time up to a rate of approximately 100 kHz. It consists so far of four Task Processors, connected via a ring bus. The architecture of the Task Processors as well as the Data Exchange is especially suited for high-speed performance. The System reaches a rate of roughly 50M floating-point operations per second in its present state. In order to include continuous subsystems, D/A and A/D interconnections are provided. The software is arranged in three levels, including a high-level language SFL especially suited for problems described by block diagrams. Its compiler generates individual processes which are distributed automatically onto the system by taking care of memory restrictions so that the overall processing time is minimized.
