Abstract :
It is shown that in an apodised SAW interdigital transducer the inactive areas, where periodic electrodes do not overlap, can be replaced by a continuous metallisation. In the case of YZ LiNbO3, wavefront distortion compensation is achieved when the ratio of the metallisation length to the inactive area length is equal to about 0.8.
