Abstract :
It is shown that the second-order exponential probability-density function (pdf) given by Barrick [1] fails to meet an essential statistical requirement. By applying a nonlinear transformation to the envelope and the phase of a Gaussian random process, an alternate pdf meeting all the statistical requirements is obtained. Three-dimensional plots are provided.
