Abstract
Different configurations of coils have been proposed for multipole superconducting magnetic separators [1] - [5]. The analysis of their magnetic fields allowed to find analytical expressions for magnetic force Fm , which depends mainly on the reduced distance d/τ from the winding symmetry surface, τ being the pole distance and the basic design parameter. τ can be optimized to give maximum Fm at a given di , e. g. at the midle of the working channel. It has been shown that in the working channel Fm can be well approximated by linear function of d/τ what allows to find analytical expressions for particle trajectories as well as for main separator characteristics.
