  • Abstract
    A polarisation-preserving single-mode-fibre coupler made by an etch-fusion technique with Hitachi single-polarisation fibre is reported. Polarisation isolation of 10¿20 dB is typically maintained through the coupler. Power division of ¿ 45¿55% is achieved with an excess loss of 0.2 dB.
