  • Abstract
The interaction of cylindrical magnetic domain with an elastic shock wave induced by a laser pulse has been investigated. The incident photons absorbed in a small area close to the end of the film, produce an elastic shock wave which is propagating parallel to the film surface mainly along the direction corresponding to the incident light beam. The structure of the magnetic domains is modified only near the direction of the elastic wave beam, which corresponds for the bubbles either to a shift of their position or to a pure annihilation mainly when the bias field is increasing towards the collapse field. The stability of the bubbles has been studied from experiments as a function of the bias field and the laser pulse energy. The experimental results are analyzed from the calculation of the spatial and temporal shapes of the shock wave which gives the possibility to determine an equivalent magnetic field pulse acting on the magnetic bubbles Structure. It is shown that the bubble diameter can, either oscillate around its initial value, or decrease and vanish towards zero (bubble annihilation) in agreement with experimental results.
