Abstract :
Specimens of roller quenched amorphous ribbon of compositions Fe40Ni38Mo4B18, Fe80B20and Fe40Ni40B20were wound into insulated toroids and after annealing were subjected to step dB/dt magnetization reversals from a remanent induction to saturation in the opposite direction. The pulse magnetization characteristics and resultant losses were compared with those obtained from some conventional polycrystalline alloys typified by Ni50Fe50(square loop) and Ni77Fe14Mo4Cu5(high permeability) compositions. Measurements indicated that amorphous ribbons performed better than similar thicknesses of Ni50Fe50and were potentially useful in replacing Ni77Fe14MO4Cu5at high reversal rates.
