Abstract :
Pure coprecipitated barium ferrite powder is prepared and doped with SiO2which is an excellent grain growth inhibitor. The pure as well as the doped powder is prepressed and then hot-pressed uniaxially to samples. Some of the doped samples are sintered after hot-pressing. The static magnetic properties of all samples are measured and correlated to scanning electron micrographs. The experiments show that in the later stage of hot-pressing oriented grain growth is the main reason for the increase of the degree of texture with increasing pressing time.
