Abstract :
A new measurement method for polarisation dispersion in a single-mode fibre, utilising the coherence property of frequency-modulated laser diode light, is proposed. Polarisation dispersion is determined exactly by selecting the modulation condition which gives depolarisation light at the fibre end.
